We’re in the midst of the holiday season, and although there have already been plenty of festive celebrations, there’s still a jam-packed calendar left for the rest of the year!

The Nutcracker
When: Dec. 11th – 22nd
Where: San Francisco Ballet
What: The San Francisco Ballet performs The Nutcracker every year, but this year is a big one: it’s the 75th anniversary celebration! Walk through the snow falling outside of the Opera House, take in the dazzling holiday decor and lights (and be sure to snap a photo), and tuck in for an evening filled with over 150 costumed characters, expertly dancing to this holiday classic.
Winter Park at Civic Center
When: Nov. 22nd – Jan. 5th
Where: T-Mobile Winter Park at Civic Center,
What: Hit the ice at the Winter Park at Civic Center, back for its second year! The ice rink has expanded this year and now winds through a lighted tree forest, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to glide across the ice and take in the holiday festivities.
The Great Dickens Christmas Fair & Victorian Holiday Party
When: Nov. 23rd – Dec. 22nd
Where: Cow Palace Exhibition Halls
What: Want to take a step back in time this holiday season? Victorian London comes alive at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair, a celebration spanning five weekends that includes lively pubs, busy dance floors, lamplit shops, and tons of colorful characters.
A Christmas Carol
When: Nov. 29th – Dec. 24th
Where: American Conservatory Theater
What: Continuing the Charles Dickens trend, the A.C.T. will again be putting on a production of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. This marks the 43rd year that the theater has put on the play—if you’ve never been, it’s well-worth checking out a performance!
Unsilent Night
When: Dec. 14th, 7pm
Where: Mission Dolores Park
What: A holiday event that happens in cities all across the country, Unsilent Night brings tons of people out to carry boomboxes and CD players through the streets, playing four tracks simultaneously to create, well…an unsilent night. The event is totally free, and participation is encouraged!
PIER 39 Tree Lights
When: Through Jan. 5th, 5pm – 10pm
Where: PIER 39
What: The 60-foot holiday tree at PIER 39 will come alive every night with a light show choreographed to holiday music. The festivities will happen every half-hour from 5pm to 10pm, and there will also be special events like holiday markets, craft sessions, and shopping deals, depending on the night you choose to visit!
SFMade Holiday Gift Fair
When: Dec. 15, 11am – 5pm
Where: California College of the Arts
What: Stock up on locally made goods and snag the last few items on your holiday shopping list at the SFMade Holiday fair. You’ll find over 60 local vendors selling anything from chocolate and wine to toys and decor.
